Q:
|
|
How
difficult is it to get a full-time ESL teaching job in Arizona? |
|
R:
|
|
It
depends on the type of job you are seeking. Full-time ESL
jobs are generally much more available in Arizona's
public
schools. Full-time positions in Arizona's community colleges
and universities are not nearly as common
and are also highly
competitive. For more information, see our informational pages
on Teaching
ESL in Arizona. |

Can AZ-TESOL help me get a job teaching ESL? |

(in Arizona, elsewhere in the U.S., and even overseas) when it is sent to us, but this happens irregularly. For other
common job-related queries, see the information given below. |

Q:
|
|
I do
not have a Bachelor's / Master's degree, but I have several
years' experience teaching English outside
the United States.
Does this qualify me to teach ESL in Arizona? |
|
R:
|
|
In
most cases, no. In order to teach in the public schools here,
you will need at least a Bachelor's degree,
and in order to

I have
a teaching credential that is widely accepted in Europe, Australia,

the U.S., but I do not have a degree
or other training in TESL. Will my credential be considered

most cases, no. To find out for sure, ask this question when
you apply to teach in a specific institution. |

Q:
|
|
I want
to teach EFL overseas. Are certification courses for this
type of teaching available in Arizona? |
|
R:
|
|
All three of Arizona's
state universities (the University
of Arizona, Northern
Arizona University, and
Arizona
State University) offer coursework in ESL/EFL, and the
University of Arizona also offers a
short-term TESL
Teacher Training program. For more information on other TEFL certification
programs, click HERE
and HERE.
NOTE: There are many TESL/TEFL certification programs,
both in the U.S. and abroad; some are reputable and some are
not. |
